ASSEMBLYMEMBER LAURA FRIEDMAN ENDORSES LORAINE LUNDQUIST FOR L.A. CITY COUNCIL

Dr. Loraine Lundquist’s Campaign Continues to Gain Momentum Following the Endorsements of Assemblymember Christy Smith, Environmentalist Bill McKibben and Former Candidate Michael Benedetto

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, CA – Today, Dr. Loraine Lundquist announced Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) is supporting her candidacy for the vacant seat in the Los Angeles City Council’s 12th District.

“I am proud to endorse Loraine Lundquist for LA City Council and know from her work as a community advocate that she will be a fearless voice on behalf of her constituents. Her expertise as a scientist and sustainability educator will be invaluable as the state and city work side-by-side to tackle the climate crisis and transition to a green new economy,” Assemblymember Friedman said. “Now, more than ever, we need strong female leaders like Loraine on the Council who are ready on day one to help us improve water efficiency standards, expand transportation alternatives and increase access to affordable housing.”

The endorsement comes on the heels of several other prominent leaders throwing their support behind Dr. Lundquist, including Granada Hill Chamber of Commerce President, Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council Vice President, and former District 12 candidate Michael Benedetto.

In addition, Bill McKibben, revered environmentalist, author, journalist and 350.org founder, voiced his strong support in declaring his endorsement last week. “Loraine Lundquist has shown that she walks the talk when it comes to questions of pollution and energy,” said McKibben. “We need the new kind of thinking she represents.”

Dr. Lundquist is also supported by the National Healthcare Workers Union and the Women’s Alliance of Los Angeles.
